As a Revit user, you know that BIM is all about the details!
Modeling, drawing up plans, and calculating quantities are still fairly straightforward… But what about advanced analyses for cost planning and project management, as well as data transfers to other specialists, contractors, and clients?
With our Revit content, which also includes the corresponding building construction template, we offer you a practical and future-proof comprehensive solution for advanced BIM planning in building construction.
Like our building construction template, the family catalog is continuously updated to meet expert requirements and expanded to include content based on the needs of our customer network. Updates to the library are released regularly and made available for download online through the customer network.
All library objects are 100% compatible with international data transfer standards such as IFC and bSDD.
Families are at the heart of your BIM setup!
In the world of Revit, families refer to the basic type of digital building model: the element, such as windows, doors, stairs, or columns.
Together with the template, a robust family library is essential for all professional design applications:
- High-performance display
- Reliable evaluation
- Data transfer to calculation and simulation
More than 1,500 items related to building construction are maintained, expanded, and updated each year:
A uniform alphanumeric data model across all product families
A consistent parameter and attribute structure is particularly important for analyses and calculations. Our families offer you:
- Consistent naming convention for all elements
- Reliable evaluation in parts lists
- Ideal basis for cost planning and tendering
- Easy data transfer to IFC, e.g., for review purposes
- Bidirectional data transfers with calculation and simulation programs (structural analysis, building services)
Generic, product-neutral elements
- 100% generic product families
- 100% manufacturer-neutral catalog, suitable for tenders
- Modular design of complex elements such as doors
Ongoing maintenance and further development
- Annual version updates
- Ongoing development
Representation in plans and models tailored to specific needs
- Performance-oriented detailing (LOG 100-300)
- Standard-compliant 2D representation in all projection planes (DE + AT)
Even though Autodesk laid a solid foundation for a useful family catalog for German-speaking countries several years ago with "Golden Nugget Content," advanced BIM users in particular quickly realize that it reaches its limits when it comes to more complex use cases such as analysis, calculation, and simulation.
The Revit content from the German Revit User Group (RUG) is a bit more professional: it offers greater consistency in naming conventions and attribute definitions.
However, both free catalogs also share a few challenges:
- The sometimes very high level of detail quickly pushes Revit to its (already tight) performance limits in larger projects.
- The existing systems do not offer sufficiently reliable consistency for bidirectional data transfer between calculation and simulation programs (e.g., structural analysis) or evaluation programs (e.g., cost and scheduling).
This situation has prompted both our clients and us to develop our own family catalog, which addresses these very issues and provides an (almost) uncompromising solution for comprehensive building design.
