AIA - Client Information Requirements

Searching...

Client Information Requirements (AIA for short, also known as Exchange Information Requirements since 2024), the BIM methodology refers to the sum of all content-related, structural, technical, and procedural specifications that a building owner requires from its contractors. Keyword: "Goal Definition"!

AIAs form the substantive basis of a BIM execution plan and are often referred to as "BIM specifications." They clarify the question: "Who provides what information, when, and to what level of detail?"

When clients are concerned solely with specifying the data relevant to building operations, this is referred to as operational information requirements (BIA for short).

To better understand how AIA standards are structured and how they relate to other guidelines and regulations within the BIM workflow, we recommend taking the "Guidelines and Regulations" course.
