Given the ongoing digitization of our work environment, data backup has come to play a particularly important role. However, in the BIM world described in this compendium, the focus is not only on the ability to recover files in the event of data loss, but also on preserving design stages as the project progresses.

This article describes the standard procedure for backing up "local Revit models" (on-premises models) using Revit's built-in "eTransmit" feature.

To save "Revit Cloud models," a procedure specific to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is used, as documented in BIMpedia article 8.1, "Archiving a Cloud Project."

In addition, the document highlights specific features of the filing system for BIM content, particularly in the BOA environment.
