Air duct: Insulation

Searching...

Air duct insulation layers are responsible for retaining the energy of the air within the ducts. To minimize the temperature drop of the treated air from the source to the end user, different insulation materials are used depending on the specific application.

At this stage, the insulation of air ducts is not yet shown.

At this stage, the insulation of air ducts is not yet shown.

From this stage onward, insulation is shown. In addition, measures are taken to prevent the spread of smoke and fire, in accordance with DIN EN 15501-2 and 3—Special Components.

    Features

The following characteristics are defined in this phase:

    • Geometry of Fire-Rated Cladding
    • Loads
    • Definition of the fire resistance class

    Labeling

The following fire resistance ratings can be specified for the component: EI90, EI45, etc.

Ideally, elements should be labeled using a family that retrieves the necessary information and characteristics of the insulation from the properties.

    Instructions

    Installation of the insulation:

After selecting the air duct, the button for creating the insulation is located in the Modify | Air Ducts tab.

Depending on the requirements, the insulation can be installed inside or outside the air duct.

    Features

The following characteristics are defined in this phase:

    • Adjustment of the geometry of the fire-resistant linings in accordance with the duct network calculation
    • Adjustment of the geometry of the duct insulation

    Labeling

The labeling of the insulation layer or cladding on the floor plan should include the following fire safety requirements:

    • Fire resistance class
    • Insulation thickness
