The Asset Identification System (AKS) is a labeling system (commonly used in facility management and relevant CAFM systems) designed to uniquely identify, assign, and locate objects and assets within a building. Each object is assigned a unique code composed of various category identifiers, which ultimately identifies the object unambiguously—similar to a GUID in BIM—and additionally assigns it to an asset (if applicable).
