A naming scheme (often referred to as a naming convention) is a company-wide or industry-wide guideline for the use of standardized naming conventions for terms and abbreviations. This measure takes on particular significance in the age of digital, object-oriented data management (the much-cited "I" in BIM), because all system-relevant software processes are based on these specified designations. In simple terms, one could also say that program automations only work as intended if the objects used in them are named consistently!
This article provides a list of the most important BIM-related naming conventions and abbreviations, as well as links to additional resources. In particular, it lists conventions used for templates and families in the BOA environment.
In many cases, users do not fully appreciate the value of these standards until they find that a systematically organized, standardized, and ultimately familiar environment enables them to demonstrably increase their work efficiency.
_BAU ... File name for the model combining the Architecture and Structural Engineering departments; architects and structural engineers work on this model
_TGA ... File name for the model combining the building services and electrical engineering disciplines; electrical engineers and building services engineers work on this model
_GES ... File name for the overall consolidation of all submodels; this model serves as the central hub for the transfer of shared coordinates
_CAD ... File name used to store all DWG files; CAD files are loaded into this model (e.g., site plan, as-built drawings, external plans)
_AAL ... File name for the outdoor facilities model; this model contains everything related to the outdoor facilities, including topography
The naming convention can be found directly in Revit under 00_Internal > 090_Info > 092_Standards.

Tracking curves
The naming of drag curves follows a specific system:
Dtai_Tracking Curves_ Vehicle Type _Vehicle Length_Inner Radius_fa or ..._st
- fa = radius of a moving vehicle
- st = Radius of a stationary vehicle
Example:
Dtai_Schleppkurven_LKW_9_5_fa means: The inside radius of a moving (fa) truck that is 9 m long is 5 m
