This Revit extension automatically determines the number of components assigned to rooms and writes the respective sum directly to a defined room parameter. This means that up-to-date and consistent room data is available at all times.
Recording elements per room often requires manual counting or complex evaluations. This process is not only time-consuming, but also prone to errors. As BIM models are constantly changing, these counts have to be carried out again and again.
- No more manual counting of elements.
- Automatic, reproducible evaluation per room.
- Direct storage of results in room parameters.
- Easy updating after model changes.
- Flexible filter options for precise evaluations.
Room allocation
The room assignment is based on a parameter of the elements, which must contain a room number. The parameter value is compared with the existing room numbers. The desired parameter is defined by your company when installing the Revit extension.
Note: The room geometry and the position of the elements are not examined. The assignment is made exclusively via parameters.
Count according to selection
The user interface provides several input fields that can be used to control the counting process. Let's look at these in detail.
- Category:
The category whose elements are to be counted. - Filter parameter (optional):
Optional parameter whose parameter value can be searched in order to filter the elements further. Only text parameters that have a value for at least one element in the active category are available for selection. - Include value (optional):
Optional search term for the filter parameter. Only elements that contain the term in the parameter value are counted. - Exclusion value (optional):
Optional exclusion value for the filter parameter. Elements that contain the term in the parameter value are not counted. If you want to use multiple exclusion terms, separate them with semicolons ("Rescue;Safety;SiBel") - Room parameter:
Target parameter of rooms in which the sum of the elements found is written. Only numerical parameters are available for selection.
The counting process is started by pressing the "Apply" button. Elements from both the active and linked models are now counted. The result is then displayed.
Counting according to CSV file
Activate the "Use CSV import" button to execute several previously defined counting tasks. Click on the file path to select a CSV file. The input fields above are grayed out in this mode and are not taken into account.
A sample CSV file is loaded by default. You can use the file as a template for your own counting tasks. The example shows which 5 column labels must be present in line 1 of the file. There can be any number of lines with counting processes below this.
